Welcome to the Halls Below

The World Beneath and Beyond

From the mind of Björgvin Guðjónsson comes a hidden realm where magma glows, moss hums, and crystal caverns shine like stolen starlight.

Beneath Iceland’s crust lies the Undirheimar — home of the Lava Trolls: artisans of ember and stone, guardians of balance, and mischief-makers when the vents burp at the wrong time.

Bound to frost, root, and sky by the Vein of Eldur, this world links Lava Trolls with Ice Trolls, Elves, and even the humans above. From the Singing Vents to the Mossy Tunnels, every corner holds a story glowing with wonder, laughter, and the occasional mushroom sneeze.

Stories of Fire, Frost, and Friendship

The Lava Troll saga unfolds across eight whimsical tales. Each book glows with its own spark — from moss-sprouting misfits to ember-eyed guardians.

Read, download, or listen, and step into the warmth of the Undirheimar.

The Crystal of Eldur

Sparky is chosen to seek a crystal that balances all realms. What could possibly go wrong? (Hint: sheep named Woolsworth.)

Flame Meets Frost

One fiery mishap launches Sparky into Vatnajökull — and into the icy halls of the Ice Trolls, where unlikely friendships thaw ancient divides.

Aurora’s Light

Princess Aurora and Sparky craft a spectacle of fire and auroras to show humans the magic of harmony — if they can stop a saboteur first.

Magma Meets Man

Curious Sparky ventures to the surface, only to find humans drilling into the earth’s fiery veins. Can trolls and humans learn to listen?

The Troll Who Grew Moss

Mosi is born different — green where others burn red. Laughed at, he finds magic in moss, mushrooms, and friendship.

The Vein of Eldur

A mysterious heartbeat in the stone threatens fire, frost, roots, and sky alike. Sparky, Aurora, Chilly, Eva, and Karn must unite — or all realms may fracture.

Bergur and The Big Bonk

When a fossilized yak toenail falls out of Mosi’s mossy beard, it reveals a map to the legendary Hammer Vault. Bergur, Loftur the dragon, and a very reluctant Mosi set off on a quest that may shake the earth—literally.

Logi and The First Flame

Before Sparky, before the Vein, there was a flicker. Young Logi, quiet listener of stone and seeker of balance, must descend to the heart of the world to rekindle the First Flame—or risk losing the light forever.

The Knucklings

Deep beneath Iceland, the Lava Trolls meet the perfect helpers: tiny stone Knucklings who can clean, carry, sort, tidy, and follow instructions exactly.A little too exactly. A funny lava-lit story about “robots”, teamwork, bad instructions, big feelings, and one heroic toe.

Meet the Trolls & Friends

The Lava Trolls are no bridge-lurking grumps. They are guardians, artists, misfits, and occasional mushroom-sneezers.

Here are some of the glowing personalities you’ll meet:

The Creator

From the mind of Björgvin Guðjónsson – Art Director, storyteller, and occasional troll wrangler, come the tales of the Lava Trolls. With more than twenty-five years shaping worlds through design and creativity, Björgvin now turns to the glowing underworld of Iceland to weave stories that mix humor, heart, and molten mischief.

His vision for the Lava Trolls is simple: warm-hearted fantasy where children and playful grown-ups alike can laugh, wonder, and discover that even the strangest moss-covered misfit belongs. The stories are born from sketches, words, and the sparks of AI tools, always guided by a human hand and a storyteller’s grin.

Whether you meet them on the page, hear them in audio, or see them in glowing art, the Lava Trolls carry Björgvin’s belief that stories should be both whimsical and wise — a hearth where imagination feels at home.

The Warm Rock Support Team

For a while now, I’ve been sharing The Lava Trolls stories freely here on my website… both the books and, in some cases, audio versions too. I love doing that. The whole point has always been to let people step into this strange little Icelandic underworld of fire, frost, moss, humour, friendship, and mild geological irresponsibility.

But creating it all takes time. And, occasionally, actual money. Especially things like audiobooks, music, videos, illustrations, new stories, and the other odd ideas that keep crawling out from behind the lava kettle.

So I’ve now opened a Patreon.

It’s for anyone who wants to support the journey, follow the process more closely, or get a behind-the-scenes look at how the Lava Trolls world is made.

There’s a simple supporter tier if you just want to help keep the cave warm, and a behind-the-scenes tier for extra creations, short stories, previews, early looks, and new things before they go public.
No pressure at all. The free stories aren’t disappearing.

This is just a way for those who enjoy the Lava Trolls to support more of it… more stories, more audio, more visual experiments, more strange moss-related incidents, and hopefully bigger things ahead.

Thank you for reading, listening, sharing, encouraging, and generally not reporting the trolls to the authorities.
